OUR ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT NETWORK MEETING
In order to plan the activities of the Solidarity Economy Network of the year, the member organizations met March 15, 2007 in South Vicarage House.
Solidarity Economy Network emerged in 2001 from an international seminar "Building trust for an economy of solidarity" organized by the Vicariate of the Social Pastoral in order to reflect on the current economic model, the world of work and quality of life of the sectors popular. It consists of different types of institutions that fight, from different organizations and visions, conscientious and ethical consumption, assessing the community factor and defending the proximity between producer and consumer. The network strongly believes that: "The economy may be in solidarity, taking the person as a center, meeting their priority needs and community life."

This coordination meeting was addressed, among other things, the urgent need for this network has public visibility through the mass activities, such as an annual fair at the end of the year, in which producers make themselves known, market their products and know each other. At the same time, the idea is to adhere to a kind of campaign, so as to spread to the general public about the principles and ethical consumption values \u200b\u200band defends the network aware.
Another action is focused on the public defense of those who suffer the consequences of the economic model, between different groups of producers with that works and develops each of the organizations that make up this network, fairground, family farmers, artisans, women, youth, entrepreneurs, farmers in the small farming, etc.

It is possible to develop alternative models if they valued the experience of rural and urban development, based on joint production lines, with sustainable management and socially appropriate technologies. Furthermore, it is urgent to think about mechanisms to better distribute the wealth, making it more equitable tax structures of our countries.

In Temuco, between 14 and 17 November 2007 meeting was held on Solidarity Economy bring together representatives from organizations and producers of Latin American countries (Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay).
The activity includes the Seminar Circuits economic solidarity: towards the construction sector of the economy of solidarity, "an exhibition fair, workshops and various opportunities for participation and debate.
This body emerged as a promising initiative for small farmers to survive in the midst of a system dominated by transnational corporations and large retail chains.
The idea was born in May 2006 when several organizations in South America, meeting in Paraguay, agreed to launch a series of regional meetings on solidarity economy and alternative trade. Thus was born the MERCOSUR area Solidarity, a body that after activation at various events, completes its cycle in Temuco in southern Chile.

This Nov. 19, at the headquarters of the Columban Missionaries, the organizations belonging to the Solidarity Economy Network ended the year with a meeting at which to celebrate Christmas together, expressed the commitment to continue on the platform and related initiatives to support small producers, which are outside the distribution of the dominant neoliberal system.
The activity was attended by representatives of the Diego de Medellin Ecumenical Center, Columban Missionary of the Solidarity Economy Network of South Vicariate, the Vicar of the Social Pastoral, Artisan Workshop "House of Women" and Peñalolén OCAC Foundation.
