The Solidarity Economy Network firmly believe economy is another possible, focusing on people and having as its main objective the satisfaction of social needs. Understand an economy with a focus on production autonomy, based on grassroots organizing, self-management participation, ecological sustainability and community association. For this reason, we demand a change in priorities and focus of attention of governments, parliaments and local authorities in Latin America.
urgently implement specific policies and programs for the promotion and development of social economy, collecting their contributions and valuing their role in overcoming poverty and social inequality. It is possible to develop alternative models if they valued the experience of rural and urban development, based on joint production lines, with sustainable management and socially appropriate technologies. Furthermore, it is urgent to think about mechanisms to better distribute the wealth, making it more equitable tax structures of our countries.

arises Solidarity Economy Network in 2001 in Santiago, from an international seminar "Building trust for an economy of solidarity" organized by the Vicariate of the Pastoral Social. It consists of different types of institutions fighting for a conscientious and ethical consumption, assessing the community factor and defending the proximity between producer and consumer.
